- Description
- Wajima Asaichi" is one of Japan's three major morning markets, dating back approximately 1,000 years to the Heian Period (794 – 1185), and is said to be the birthplace of barter trade. On the street known as the "Asaichi-dori," which becomes a pedestrian paradise from 8 AM to 12 PM, up to 180 open-air stalls can be found. It is closed for three days at the beginning of the year and every second and fourth Wednesday of each month.
