- Description
- This is the first seawater desalination dam in Japan, located near Hibi Port on Takashima. By closing off the inlet and raising the level of the dam's reservoir surface above the sea level, it uses the difference in density to desalinate and purify the water. This ensures agricultural water supply for almost all of the cultivated land on the island.
