- Description
- The castle was built in 1718 by Matsura Atsunobu, the sixth lord of Hirado. Although it was dismantled during the Meiji Restoration, the main keep of the castle (a.k.a. Kameoka Castle) stands on a hilltop overlookin the Hirado Strait. The Kitakoguchi-mon (gate) and the Tanuki Yagura (watchtower) are the only structures left from the original castle site.
