- This merchant residence, which was once operated as a sake brewery during the Edo period (1603–1867), has been preserved in a state closely reflecting its original appearance. The shop section (east wing) dates from around 1780, while the reception rooms were constructed in 1838.
Designed to host distinguished guests, the residence features refined tatami rooms comparable to those found in samurai dwellings, making it an exceptionally rare example. It has been designated a National Important Cultural Property.
