- Situated in the castle town of Hagi Castle, the main street known as Gofukumachi Suji once served as the Onari Road (the Shogun’s Route). Historic residences still line the street, including the Kikuya family home—official purveyors to the Hagi domain—and the Kubota merchant house from the late Edo period (1853–1867).
From this main street, a narrow lane called Kikuya Yokocho branches southward along the western side.
