- Imanishi Shoin was originally used as the residence of a Buddhist monk of the Kofuku-ji Temple and handed over to the Imanishi family in 1924. Since then the house has undergone several repair construction to preserve the original Shoin style architecture from the Muromachi Period. The house was designated a National Treasure in 1937 and was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 1950 when the new law regarding cultural properties was enforced.
