- Hibara Jinja Shrine, the first of the many shrines known as Moto Ise, is said to be the origin of Ise Shrine. It is dedicated to Amaterasu Omikami, the goddess of the sun, and the sun setting behind Mt. Nijo which stands right behind the shrine is mystical, almost divine.
