- Built in 1922 as the home of a lumber merchant, the Former Mizui Family Residence stands alongside a storehouse (kura) dating from 1914.
The house is characterized by its solid construction finished with black plaster, giving it a dignified, stately appearance. In 2011, it was designated an Important Building for the Urban Landscape of Himeji City in recognition of its historical and architectural value.
