- The only place in the Hokuriku region where the castle keep is preserved. The castle keep is, however, the only major structure left standing and the former castle grounds surrounding the keep are now a public park. Over 400 cherry trees on the grounds bloom in spring, making Maruoka Castle one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots.
