- Tōjinbō refers to the massive columnar jointing that stretches for about 1 km along the northern coast of Fukui Prefecture. Such large-scale columnar jointing is rare worldwide and is considered one of the 'three great scenic spots of columnar jointing.' Additionally, due to its geological significance, it has been designated as a national natural monument and a scenic area. Once you visit, you will be captivated by the beautiful Sea of Japan and the impressive sheer cliffs. There are various ways to enjoy the area, such as walking along the cliffs created by the rough waves of the Sea of Japan, taking a sightseeing boat to view it from the water, and looking down from Tōjinbō Tower.
