- During the feudal era (1603-1868), this area was inhabited by mid-ranking samurai of the Kaga Domain, and the narrow alleys, earthen walls, and row house gates still retain their former appearance. From early December to March each year, thatch is laid over the earthen walls to protect them from snow. This has become a winter tradition in Kanazawa. It is an 8-minute drive from Kanazawa Station.
