Description: One of Japan's three most famous gardens, this iconic daimyo garden from the Edo period (1603–1868) has been meticulously shaped over generations by successive feudal lords. Spanning a vast area, it is designed as a stroll garden, complete with a pond, artificial hills, and a pavilion. Visitors can admire its beauty throughout the four seasons. The black pine trees are particularly noteworthy for their splendid branching, which is a defining feature of Kenrokuen. Each year, from November 1 to mid-March, snow supports are carefully applied to the trees.
