Description: The Hitaka Hibuse Festival, a cherished spring tradition of Oshu-Mizusawa with a history of over 300 years, is held annually in late April in the central district of Mizusawa. The magnificent festival floats (hayashi-yatai) perform elegant traditional music, and the festival as a whole has been recognized as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Iwate Prefecture. At night, the highlight “Soroiuchi (Simultaneous Ensemble Performance)” takes place under the glow of lanterns, creating a dreamlike atmosphere where musical ensembles resonate through the streets.
