- Description
- Dewa Shrine is said to have been founded when General Sakanoue no Tamuramaro prayed to Haguro Gongen during his campaigns against the Emishi and, after his victory, enshrined the deity here. Legends related to Aterui (also known as Akuro-ō) have also been handed down.
The current main hall was built in 1805. From the entrance marked by a large sign, a 600-meter stone stairway leads to the shrine grounds. From there, visitors can overlook the Isawa Plain and the Kitakami River, while the surrounding area offers multiple pathways, making it an ideal filming location.
