- Opened in 1914 for the purpose of transporting coal, the station was abandoned in 1985 with the closure of the Manji Line. It has been maintained as a railway park since 1986, and SL locomotives, rails, platforms, and barrier gates are on display.
In 2018, members of the Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team and local experience businesses collaborated to launch the "Asahi Station Revival Project," with approximately 30 local residents and other citizens participating in activities such as painting and applying preservatives. We carried out preservation activities.
