One of the most famous tourism spot in Sendai.Masamune Date constructed this castle in 1603, and it was a residence of several generations of the Date family. There was no tower.

A mausoleum or ancestral shrine for Lord Date Masamune, the founder of the Sendai clan. It was designated as a national treasure, being a mausoleum built in the Momoyama style of construction.

It is said that Masamune Date tried to build this shrine in the image of the Toyokuni Shrine in Kyoto. It is the oldest building built in the gongenzukuri style.

Sendai mediatheque is a center for activities in the fields of art and film, serving as a public facility.
