- Description
- Kagoshima Castle, also known as Tsurumaru Castle, was constructed from 1601 to 1604 by Matsudaira Iehisa. It was destroyed in a fire in 1874 and not rebuilt. The castle’s moats, stone walls, and a stone bridge have survived and have been designated as Historic Sites of Kagoshima Prefecture. Reimeikan Museum now stands on the donjon site.
