- The Katsuyama Historical Preservation District is a historic town with samurai residences from the Edo Period as well as the Katsuyama Local Historical Museum.
Old sake breweries and samurai residences are still preserved and other old buildings, such as warehouses and merchants’ homes are now used as cafes and galleries. At the entrance of almost every house or shop in Katsuyama hangs a colorful, vegetable-dyed noren (traditional shop curtains), welcoming all guests who visit the town.
