- The only hot spring district in Japan to be in an area designated as a Historic Streetscape Preservation District. The hot spring is also a part of the World Heritage Site Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine and its Cultural Landscape (2007). The atmosphere of the district are reminiscent of the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa Periods and offers a great backdrop for television and film.
