Description: A beautiful seashore with expansive white sands, home to the shrine that was the setting for the story of the White Rabbit of Inaba. As the birthplace of Japan’s first love story, Hakuto was designated as ‘the holy ground for lovers’ in 2010. Along the highway is a tanka inscription of the nursery rhyme ‘Daikoku-sama’ composed by Tottori’s own Torazou Tamura. Summer sees a crowd of swimmers and surfers here. Near the seaside the rugosa roses grow wild as a natural keepsake, blooming in early summer.
