- The Himeji City Museum is located east of the Himeji Castle, which is a World Heritage and a National Treasure of Japan. The red-brick building dates back to 1905, when it was built as a military supply warehouse. The building, which is lit up at night with the Himeji Castle, was registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 2003.
