- One of Kyoto’s five famous hanamachi (geisha district), Kamishichiken is located east of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and west of Senbon Shaka-do Temple. Kamishichiken (literally meaning the ‘seven upper houses’) is the oldest hanamachi in Kyoto.
