Location information
- Name
- Ichien Manor
- Address
- Tagacho, Shiga Prefecture
- Description
- The facility is a shōya (village headman’s residence) built during the Ansei era of the Edo period (1854–1860), preserving the architectural style of the late Edo period (1781–1868) intact. It features a pond-style Japanese garden and traditional beauty expressed through paintings, calligraphy, and ceramics collected since the Edo period (1603–1868). The residence is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan and is known as the Former Ienaka Residence.
Recommended filming locations include two rooms facing the garden, which have no glass windows—only sliding doors and storm shutters. The surrounding area features a rural landscape (satoyama) without utility poles. Nearby are a dam lake, a chain of low mountains, and streams of the Serikawa River flowing through the area. Adjacent to the residence is parking space for about 20 vehicles, with additional parking for about 50 vehicles available at the former Wild Bird Forest parking lot.
Currently in use as a minpaku (private lodging).
