- This is a local resident hand-dug tunnel connecting the former Yamakoshi village to the former Hirokami village. The tunneling took 16 years and was completed in 1949. This is the longest hand-dug tunnel in Japan, stretching approximately 900 meters and was excavated solely by human effort. Preservation efforts for the tunnel are currently underway.
