Description: Construction began in April 1892, resulting in a beautiful brick arch bridge where engineering and artistry blend seamlessly. Rising 31 meters above the riverbed, it is the largest structure of its kind in Japan.

This magnificent four‑arch bridge is affectionately known as the “Megane Bridge” (Spectacles Bridge). Of the original series of bridges, five structures, from the Second Bridge to the Sixth Bridge, still remain. All are brick‑built and designated Important Cultural Properties of Japan.
