- Description
- The north side of the Seichō Government Office complex is modeled after an earlier period, around the 8th to 9th centuries, when the Tohoku region had not yet been fully brought under central control. At its center stands the main hall (seiden), flanked by wooden-roofed side halls, with the north gate and guardhouses all enclosed by wooden fences.
The south side of the complex recreates the government office as it would have appeared around the 12th century. Influenced by Tang Chinese architecture, the buildings are symmetrically arranged around the central main hall.
