- Description
- Based on archaeological excavations of the Shiwa Castle Ruins (Morioka City), this area recreates the distinctive jōsaku fortifications unique to the Tohoku region.
The jōsaku served as the front line of a castle, consisting of wooden palisades, main gates, turret gates, watchtowers, and guardhouses. Earthen ramparts and dry moats were constructed in front to prevent enemy approach.
From spring to autumn, the area is adorned with seasonal flowers.
Visitors can enjoy the vibrant contrast of lush greenery, water lilies blooming in the pond, cherry blossoms, azaleas, and irises throughout the changing seasons.
